Hello Families,
Below are some highlights of our week! "Rosie the tarantula came to our classroom. She is in an enclosure." Levi "We did a directed drawing of the parts of a spider. Head, legs, spinnerets, thorax, and eyes." Luke "We did the life cycle of a spider. First is eggs, then the egg sack, then spiderlings, and then an adult spider." Jack and Lucy "At the Halloween Dance I was a bat and I got candy and danced with my Dad!" Eleanor "At the Halloween Dance I got lots of candy and I danced with my friends." Jett "In math, we made lines and put numbers on them. We circled and put an x on numbers on the number line. We also did arrows. One going right and one going left." Joshua and Dylan "We found missing numbers on a number line." Jagger "We did Fire Writing. I like that we have our own pencils and we write a lot. I was writing a lot about a story about a cat." Dora "In Sibbald U we made houses. They were made out of cardboard. My house had a yellow and a white roof and there was one window that was pink and another big window that was green and purple. The special thing about my house is that my face was in it!" Sara "We got our Fire Writing journals and I wrote a very funny story in it. It was about me and I got run over by a car and then ten years later I was in the hospital. I jumped out the window and rode in the car and then I ran into a tree...." Emily Thank you for all of your donations so far for the Veteran's Food Drive. We will be collecting non perishable food items from now until November 20th. Thank you for your support! Please return home reading everyday as students get opportunities to exchange their books each day. Please also send in your literacy challenge photo to your child's teacher as soon as possible. Tuesday October 31st is Halloween. Students have been reminded that their costumes should be free of weapons and masks. Also we ask that your child please wear something that they can move around in easily as they will still be participating in normal school day activities. Good Afternoon,
Thank you to all of the parents who joined us on Monday for conferences. It was great to see everyone! Please find below some highlights of our week! "We learned about spiders and pumpkins. Pumpkins can be blue, red, white, orange, and yellow." Isla "This week we made a life cycle about a pumpkin. It starts with a seed, then a sprout, then a plant, a flower, a green pumpkin, and then an orange pumpkin." Hudson and Jagger "We read a book about Gravity and then we watched a video." Lily "This week we used crayons to make a leaf rubbing." Zach "We made self portraits out of construction paper." Gregory "We were asking friends what they like and we shared all of the information in front of the class. I made one new friend this week!" Charlotte "At Sibbald U Masterpiece we drew pumpkins and we did three pumpkins." Emily VK "We had picture day yesterday!" Danny "We are taking home our home reading today! I am taking home two books." Ben "We are getting a real tarantula for our classes! I wonder if they are poisonous." Maggie "Today at Sibbald U we painted and added dots and lines in different colours to our painting." Tenny Home reading packages went home today with students. Please take some time to read with your child everyday and look through the package. In the package you will find a home reading log, a snuggle up and read letter, and a literacy photo challenge. For the literacy photo challenge please work with your child and take a photo of what literacy looks like at home. Please send photos by next week as we will be creating a collage in our classrooms. We are looking for six pumpkins for each classroom! If you would be able to donate some pumpkins to our classrooms that would be wonderful! Here are some of our highlights from our week together: "This week at school we have been sounding out words". Josh "This week at school we did Goal Setting, we talked about what our goals were for writing". Colton "In math we got power of 10 cards, we played math games. One was called War and Go Fish". Audrey "We talked about what we are proud of in our writing". Danny "This week we read lots of books. I read how to be a better reader". Carson "In Music, we sang really fun songs like Jump Frog Jump". Maggie "Choir started this week. We watched videos of music, one of them was In Flanders Fields for Remembrance Day". Nahla "In gym, we played Revenge Tag, Pizza tag, and TV tag. We have to be safe and keep our eyes up front". Tom "Kananaskis in the Classroom came and we learned about Beavers, Musk rats and Fish". We had another busy and exciting week! Some of the highlights are below: "We started Sibbald U this week. There was different activities. I got to choose. I was in finding fairies." Isla "The Ned show came to our school. He did tricks with a yoyo." Tenny "We learned this at the NED show. NED stands for Never Give Up, Encourage Others, and Do your best." Colton "We were able to buy yoyos. I’ve been doing some tricks with it." Avery "We made some turkeys for Thanksgiving. We traced hands for the feathers, then we cut out the body and the goblet." Charlotte "We wrote about Thanksgiving. We wrote about what we are thankful for. We used our senses." Lucy "In math we made 10 frames. We used egg cartons. They helped me with math." Myer "Today in Sibbald U I was in Collaborative Art. We painted trees. Then we painted hands. We had a buddy to paint them. We put our hands on the trees to make the leaves. We did it in different colours." Sara "In Sibbald U I was in finding fairies. We got to draw our own fairies. I drew a flower fairy."
