Hello Families!
We had an amazing and busy week! Below are some of the wonderful highlights. "In art we did a face and we made it look like us. We used construction paper to make our hair." Damien "We had guide dogs Roo and Jupiter visit our classrooms this week." Ren "This week we had the Terry Fox Run and I did more than nine laps. We participate becaue we want to do it for kids with cancer." Emily VK "We went to Fish Creek Park and planted milkweed for monarch butterflies to eat. It attracts them because they are endangered." Georgia and Nahla "I learned that monarch butterflies are endangered. There are not many of them left." Danny and Addy "We were drawing leaves because it is Fall. We used pastels and I used yellow and brown." Ivo "We got paint and used Q-tips to paint leaves on our Fall trees. I used red, orange, yellow, and a little bit of brown." Isla "We made pictographs in math and drew pictures. I asked my friends "what is your favourite Thanksgiving food?" Colton "Today we wore orange shirts for kids in residential schools." Jamay "We had a guide dog come in and he showed us a doggie pushup. He had to go sit, down, up, and sit." Emma "We played revenge tag in gym. It was really fun! In revenge tag everyone is it and then everyone can tag each other. You have to watch who tagged you and if they get tagged you come back up. If you get tagged at the same time you play rock paper scissors." Ben "We did a directed drawing of a bee and we coloured it in with black, yellow, and red. We labeled the stinger, the body, the legs, the eyes and the antenna." Jack If you have any egg cartons that you are not using please send them with your child on Monday. We will be using these to help us understand numbers! Sibbald U forms went home with students yesterday. Please send these back to school by Monday. Hello Families,
We had another wonderful week of learning in grade one and two! Below are some highlights. "In art we drew another tree. It was a tree in fall. The leaves had changed color." Danny "We went outside looking for signs of fall. We looked for what you could see, what you could hear, what you could smell and what you could feel." Audrey "We talked about changes in fall like when animals hibernate." Josh V "We started a new art project of a fall tree. We did the sky, the grass, and the tree." Dora "In math we asked our classmates a question "What season is your favorite? We kept track with tally marks. Then we made a graph." Ethan "We did math. We used white boards. We asked people what their favorite season was." Emma "In music we learned a song. Its a really cool song. It's called Gina, Eva, Cecilia and Dina." Ben "We learned how to become a better reader. We practiced our reading by quiet reading and we learned how to pick a good fit book." Tom Reminders: No School Friday September 22nd Terry Fox Run Thursday September 28th Orange Shirt Day Friday September 29th On Monday we will be taking a community walk. We will need 2 volunteers per class to walk from the school to Fish Creek Park. We will be participating in the Pollinator Project! Next week (Tuesday and Wednesday) we are having a presentation by Alberta Guide Dogs. We are asking students to please bring in a small donation ($1/$2) to help support Alberta Guide Dogs. What a wonderful first full week we have had all together! Here are some of our highlights of some of the things we have done this week: -"This week I learned how to do math better. I learned how to make 10. I did 11-1, and 12-2". Dylan -"This week we had fire drill. We had to walk to our teachers, and had to exit outside. It was scary, but it was just a practice". Ben -"This week we drew a picture of a tree. It did not have any leaves". Maryn -"This week we did a fall directed drawing, we drew leaves, we drew bushes and a tree on hill. We used pencil crayons to colour it". Emilia -"This week we got to play xylophones in Music. We played a song too". Addy -"In gym, we played a tag game called Ship, Shark, Shore". Jayden T -"We had a nice picnic last night with our families. I had cheese and mushroom pizza". Dylan -"We did a lot of writing. We wrote a message to our parents, teachers and we wrote about us". Charlotte -"We made a water colour picture of our face. It was it fun because we got to use water colours". Ethan -"In math, we learned how to make different numbers. I made the number 20, I used place value". Lily Reminders: -Please bring back your T.W.A.S. to school every Monday. We had a lot of kids that forgot theirs at home. -Also as a reminder please bring back your folders daily, even if there is nothing inside them. -Please also make sure that you dress for the weather (rain boots, coats, extra socks etc). Henry "I liked snack because we watched a book on the SMART board called Purple, Green, and Yellow." Dora "We made lots of new friends at the playground!" Jayden KT A TWAS (This Week At School) notebook went home with students today. Please take some time to go through and talk about this with your child. We also encourage you to comment in their book! These will go home every Friday and should be returned every Monday. Please also return take home folders everyday as we send important forms and information home with students regularly. Next week is our Welcome Back BBQ. Pizza order forms were sent home with students this week. Hope to see you there!
